Experience the potter’s wheel and learn how to make your own ceramics at this fun beginner’s throwing class at Clay Cartel in Marrickville.
This class is the perfect introduction for anyone wanting to have some hands-on experience working with clay on the wheel. You’ll learn everything you need to know about how centre a ball of clay and throw different shapes on the potter’s wheel.
Classes are small groups of up to four people, so you get more personal attention from our teachers. The class will run for two hours and at the end of the class, you will get to pick two of your pots to be fired and glazed with the glaze of your choice. So you will have two of the pots you created to keep forever at no extra cost.
We will let you know when your pieces are glazed and fired, which takes about two weeks.
You should wear casual and comfortable clothing that you don’t mind getting dirty as you’re guaranteed to get splattered with clay (but don’t worry, clay washes out). Please trim your nails short and tie back long hair. All of your materials and clay will be provided on the day.
No knowledge is required. Perfect for beginners.

You will:
- learn how to make pots on the potters' wheel
- choose two of the pots you make to be glazed and fired so you can keep them forever. You can also choose the glaze you want on your pots
